LIPSTICK

000

In late 1998, Andreas Dorwarth began working on the first Lipstick tracks in Berlin. Krystal Bell left everything that was familiar to her in Texas, to find a whole new world over the ocean and to meet someone special, who would change her life forever for the better. After an evening partying with friends the two met each other and realized they shared a similar musical background and perspective. 3 months after the two met, Krystal ran out of cash and was djing parties to stay longer in Berlin. The electric duo then continued on playing cozy parties together as a team. One evening, Andreas played a song of his for Krystal and she instantly started to sing to the track, which later became “electrolyt”. The combination was so thrilling that they decided to work on new material together. But Krystal became compelled to return to Austin and they left for Texas in August 2000. The meaning of Lipstick was defined. During this time, Orbit Ep was under construction when Florian Malicke of Mira Records (Germany) then discovered Lipstick. After a sizzling 45°C August summer, they left for Berlin again to cool off. Shortly after,Lipstick's debut Orbit Ep was officially released on Mira records in Feb. 2002. Krystal's lyrics are based on daydreams, reflections and her own reality in a world that moves on uncontrollably. Many of Lipstick's songs are produced in a spontaneous fashion, while others have a more specific destination planned out in advance. It all depends how the song forms itself and what means of inspiration are involved.
